A church that meets when you actually have time.
Almost every church in the Vest meets on a Sunday morning. We do not. Testimony Arena gathers twice a week in the evening — so shift workers, commuters, students and families can be in the room at all. It is held in English, in a town where that is hard to find.

Nothing about that room changed except who was standing in it. That is the only claim this church makes about itself, and it is the reason the word testimony is in our name — a life before, a life after, and a Tuesday somewhere in between.
What actually happens
The whole evening, before you risk a single step through the door.
The honest reason people never visit a church is that they cannot picture it. So here it is, start to finish.
Before 19:00
You arrive, and nothing is asked of you.
Sophienstraße 3. The inner door is open, someone says hello, and that is the whole entry procedure. No form, no name badge, no seat assigned to you. If you would rather stay near the back, stay near the back.
19:00
It starts — in English, in a room of many accents.
Tuesday we open one passage of the Bible and stay with it. Wednesday we worship first. Either way you will hear English carrying the evening, and German, Dutch, Spanish or French carrying the person beside you.
Somewhere in the middle
Prayer is offered. Never applied.
There is a point in the evening where people pray — for a decision, a diagnosis, a visa, a marriage. If you want that, you say so. If you do not, nothing happens to you and nobody looks at you differently.
After
Then somebody makes you a coffee.
The part people come back for is rarely the part on the programme. Cups, chairs pulled around, the conversation you were not planning to have. You can leave at any point — or stay until the lights go off.
That is one ordinary evening, start to finish. Nothing above is a performance you are expected to keep up with — and nothing in it is required of you.
Seven ministries
A church is what it does the other five days.
Outreach, prayer, music, youth, the table, women and children, and the people who make things. Every one of them is open to a newcomer.

Six of the seven are short-handed right now. Nobody is asked for a CV — only for one evening.

Multicultural and multi-generational is not a slogan we chose — it is what the room already looks like. Different countries, different ages, wildly different amounts of faith, one big pool koinonia party.

Testimony Arena Church Worldwide is an English-speaking, multicultural free church at Sophienstraße 3 in Herten, on the border with Recklinghausen. It gathers twice a week in the evening — Bible Refreshment on Tuesday at 19:00 CET and Revival on Wednesday at 19:00 CET — and attending costs nothing.
