The open inner door and entrance area at Sophienstraße 3 in Herten before an evening gathering

Visit · Sophienstr. 3 · Herten

Come once. Decide afterwards.

Every evening here is free, in English, and completely without obligation. Tell us which one suits you and the rest is our job — including having someone at the door who is expecting you.

Plan your visit

Three questions. That is all.

It takes under a minute, it goes to a real person in this church, and you will get an answer from a human being — not an automated reply.

Step 1 of 3

What brings you

What brings you here?

Pick everything that fits. There is no wrong answer, and nobody is put on a list.

What to expect

Four things that will not happen to you.

Most people’s fear of a first church visit is a list of things they are dreading. So here is that list, crossed out.

01

Nobody asks for your details at the door

No form, no name badge, no sign-up sheet. Someone says hello and that is the entire entry procedure.

02

You will not be made to speak

Nobody is called on, nobody is asked to stand up and introduce themselves. Sitting quietly at the back is a completely respectable plan.

03

There is no collection aimed at you

A first-time visitor gives nothing. There is no entrance fee and no plate that stops in front of you.

04

You may leave whenever you want

Sit near the aisle and go when you need to. Nobody will follow you out or ask why.

Getting here

You will see the street before you see us.

Sophienstraße 3 sits at the edge of Herten, a few minutes from Recklinghausen. In the evening it is a quiet residential street with one doorway that has a light on. That doorway is us.

By car
Street parking outside
Sophienstraße 3 sits right on the Herten / Recklinghausen border. Park on the street and you are at the door in under a minute.
By bus
Into Herten centre, then walk
Take any line into the centre of Herten and walk from there. If you are unsure which stop, message us and we will send the exact one.
From further out
20–45 minutes
Recklinghausen, Gelsenkirchen, Marl, Gladbeck and Castrop-Rauxel are all a short drive. Essen, Bochum and Dortmund are well within reach for an evening.
If you would rather not walk in alone
Say so in the form
Tell us and somebody will wait for you outside the door before it starts, so you never have to cross the room by yourself.

Parking, the bus and the walk are described the way regulars do them. If you would rather not find the door alone, say so in the form and somebody waits outside for you.

One last thing

If tonight is a Tuesday or a Wednesday, you are already in time.

19:00, Sophienstraße 3. You do not need to have written to us first. The form just means somebody is looking out for you.
